About the Union

It is the organization through which students engage in various activities (sports, cultural, scientific, artistic, social, Scouts and public service, and student groups).

The faculty Union is composed annually of seven committees. Each committee is led by a staff member appointed by the faculty Dean and includes two elected student members serving as the committee’s Secretary and Assistant Secretary; from among these students, the Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the faculty Union itself are elected

Each year, the University President sets the detailed schedule for the Student Union elections during the first half of November, with the process concluding no later than the end of that month. Students wishing to run for Union membership must apply to the Youth Welfare Department during the nomination period designated by the University President; they are required to obtain the nomination forms, complete them, and return them to the Department by the specified deadlines.

If it proves impossible to form the Union Council entirely for this reason, the dean of the Faculty has the right to appoint a Union Affairs Board comprising members from the Union; the Board’s advisor and secretary shall enjoy all the rights of Union Council membership.

  • Students in the preparatory year must submit a certificate from their last secondary school confirming their participation in the activities for which they are seeking nomination

The names of election candidates shall be posted in a prominent location within the faculty following the review of applications and the adjudication of any filed appeals. Elections will be held for committees where candidates were not elected by acclamation to cast a vote, a student must be registered on the electoral roll and present proof of identity. A quorum of 50% of eligible student voters is required for the election to be valid; if this threshold is not met, the election shall be postponed for a period not exceeding three days, at which point the attendance of 20% of voters shall suffice for validity should this percentage not be achieved, the student body of the academic year (or class) failing to meet the required voter turnout shall be excluded from representation.

  • A Secretary and an Assistant Secretary for each Union committee are elected in accordance with the election schedule.
  • A Secretary and an Assistant Secretary for the faculty are elected in accordance with the election schedule.
  • The Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the University-level Student Activities Coordination Council are elected from among the Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries of all the colleges.
  • Each Union committee shall have a faculty advisor designated by the dean of the faculty.
