Admission Requirements

Applicants to the program must meet all requirements established by the faculty Council.

Students who did not gain direct admission to the faculty of Engineering at Sohag University through the Central Admissions Office—despite meeting the minimum requirements for the engineering sector may enrol in specialized fee-based programs upon payment of the prescribed tuition fees. They are not permitted to transfer to the faculty’s main programs at any time prior to graduation.

Students enrolled in a similar program at a faculty of engineering whether at an Egyptian or foreign university—may be accepted for transfer, provided they meet the faculty’s admission requirements. Courses previously completed at the institution from which the student is transferring shall be credited in accordance with rules established by the Faculty Council and upon completion of the necessary course equivalency assessment.

International students are also admitted to the Faculty through the General Administration for International Students, in accordance with the admission criteria annually determined by the Supreme Council of Universities.

Duration of Study

  • The program spans five academic years (five levels comprising ten semesters), with each semester lasting fifteen weeks. Certain courses may be offered during a summer semester consisting of seven weeks of intensive study.
  • High-achieving students may be permitted to graduate and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering—under the credit-hour system—in a minimum of four academic years (or eight main semesters), provided they fulfil all graduation requirements.
  •   The maximum duration of study is twenty main semesters (ten academic years); this excludes semesters during which enrolment is suspended for reasons accepted by the faculty Council.

Language of Instruction

  • Instruction in the programs is in English

Graduation Requirements

The requirements for obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering programs are as follows:

First: The student must successfully complete—with a grade of at least “D”—the courses specified in the academic regulations and required by the program, fulfilling all mandatory and elective course requirements. The total must be at least 160 credit hours (the cost per credit hour is 500 EGP, increasing by 10% annually), and the student must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 (C) over the years of study, including the graduation project.

Second: Successful completion of the military education course.

Third: Successful completion of courses graded on a Pass/Fail basis (such as summer training), which are not included in the calculation of the cumulative GPA.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program are expected to secure employment in the following areas:

1- Construction project execution and supervision engineer.
2-Road and bridge construction engineer.
3-Prestressed concrete project execution and supervision engineer.
