Program Overview

Faculty of Engineering, Sohag University, strives to keep pace with the era of digital transformation, in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, and as the impact of artificial intelligence has extended to include almost all areas of life, Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence Program combines the specializations of advanced specialists. Advanced in the fields of electronics electronics, computers, software, and control systems in the framework of artificial intelligence systems.

In the framework of the competition to keep up with the science of the future and meet the challenges and develop smart solutions to them, the faculty also has integrated this program into its new program system to achieve the ultimate goal of creating an integrated engineer, in the framework of a modern learning program through the application of the approved hours system and capacity building in the various disciplines that serve this interdisciplinary field.

Vision and Message

 Vision

“Reaching the degree of creativity and leadership locally and regionally in the field of computer engineering, artificial intelligence and its applications.”

Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence program aims to prepare outstanding, scientifically qualified engineers and professional in the fields of computer engineering and artificial intelligence who are able to compete in the labor market locally and regionally and conduct scientific research for the service of society.

Admission requirements

  1. Anyone who applies for admission to the program must meet all the requirements set by the faculty council
  2. Students who have not directly joined Faculty of Engineering – Sohag University through Tanseeq Office, with their fulfillment of the minimum requirements of the engineering sector, can join the specialized programs with expenses only while paying the prescribed tuition fees. Nor are they entitled to transfer to major programs in college until they graduate
  3. Students who are restricted to transfer to a similar program in one of the faculties of engineering in Egyptian or foreign universities may be accepted provided that the student meets the requirements for admission to the faculty and the courses studied in the faculty from which he is transferred are credited to the student in accordance with the rules determined by the faculty council and the necessary clearance
  4. As the incoming students are admitted to the faculty by the General Administration of Incomers as per the conditions of admission laid down by the Supreme Council of Universities annually

Study Duration

  • The duration of study in the program is five academic years (five levels over ten semesters) and the duration of each semester is fifteen weeks. and some courses may be offered in a summer semester of seven weeks of intensive study
  • The superior student may be allowed to graduate and obtain the Bachelor of Engineering degree with the approved hour study system, in a minimum of 4 academic years (or eight major semesters), after passing all graduation requirements and a maximum of twenty major semesters (ten academic years)—excluding frozen semesters (suspension of restriction) for reasons acceptable to the faculty Board.

Graduation Requirements

The requirements for obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering programs are as follows:

First: The student must successfully passws (with a grade of at least D) the courses mentioned in the curriculum and those required by the curriculum with all the requirements of the compulsory and elective courses and provided that at least the number of approved hours.

For at least 160 approved hours (the value of the hour is 500 pounds and increases by 10% per annum) with a general cumulative grade of at least 2.0 (C) including graduation project

Secondly: Successfully passing the military education course,

Thirdly: Passing courses in which the assessment is successful or deposited and does not count within the cumulative grade such as summer training.

Work Areas

A graduate of the program is expected to land a job in one of the following fields:

  • Working in the field of distributed systems and networks including cloud computing, wireless and mobile networks, digital forensics and parallel computing- software product lines. This program prepares the graduate to work as a software engineer with a deep understanding of all processes and aspects of software development including financial and administrative aspects, design, security, and performance- data science
  • Prepares the graduate to work as a data scientist by covering a wide range of topics including big data, machine learning, deep learning and various applications such as bioinformatics and business intelligence
  • Working in international companies in the field of embedded systems and intelligent system design and in manufacturing companies of devices, equipment and transportation such as automobiles of various types
  • Work in manufacturers of modern communication devices and systems and civil and military weapons and aircraft manufacturing companies for which AI systems have become an essential part of their formation
  • Working in computer hardware and equipment manufacturing companies and branches of international technology companies
  • Working in domestic and international telecom service providers Software Engineers- Industries that mainly focus on specific projects such as predictive maintenance projects, improving production and process flow, preferably on projects to improve quality control and supply chains
  • The scope of automobile industry where self-driving software uses advanced technologies in artificial intelligence- logistics transport companies these technologies to reduce the rate of accidents, and alleviate traffic congestion
  • E-commerce sites, to get a clear picture of customers’ purchasing behavior across sites, and make recommendations- AI applications in social networks to curb the breach of user privacy
  • The healthcare domain such as medical screening applications and clinical workflow optimization, as well as predicting patient cases in the ICU, and predicting hospital acquired diseases.
