Establishment of the faculty
The faculty was established by Presidential Decree No. 324 of 2007 and the regulations were established by Ministerial Decree No. 259 dated 9/2/2009 and studies were conducted in it during the academic year 2008-2009 and the first batch graduated from it in the academic year 2012-2013.
The vision
The Faculty of Engineering at Sohag University aspires to be at the forefront of providing engineers with a high degree of knowledge, abilities, and skills, who are able to keep pace with the rapid progress in engineering fields and can compete at the local, regional, and global levels.
The mission
Faculty of Engineering works to provide advanced educational programs characterized by high quality, and is concerned with the future changes facing engineers. The faculty seeks to enhance professional practice in various engineering fields and contribute to securing the needs of society and this is achieved through creativity, knowledge innovation, and the transfer of engineering knowledge to future generations through education, scientific research, and partnerships with governmental institutions and bodies
Faculty Objectives:
provide an advanced model of engineering education linked to specific industries, serving the surrounding environment and keeping pace with global trends.
. 2-To utilize engineering methods and technologies in applying computer science and its industrial applications. The faculty will also develop, update, and conduct economic, technical, and feasibility studies for industrial zones located in Upper Egypt
3-. To assist in the development of the governorates of Upper Egypt in the field of higher education and to provide job opportunities there.
5. To establish a model for cooperation between educational institutions and production sites.
6-To open up engineering studies to the youth of Upper Egypt and to alleviate the burden on the region’s youth who are currently studying in other governorates
7- Developing continuing education and training courses for engineers in the faculty’s areas of specialization.
8- Directing postgraduate studies towards solving practical problems facing industries (such as the aluminum, sugar, paper, and timber industries).
9-Supporting the state’s plan to establish industrial zones in the surrounding area, and conducting applied research, studies, tests, and engineering consultations
Faculty Logo
The logo features the crown of King Menes, the unifier of Upper and Lower Egypt, which is taken from the logo of Sohag University. It also indicates 2008, the first academic year of the faculty. The image includes a mechanical gear, representing the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and a ruler with the letter [representing the the right-angled triangle represents the Civil Engineering and Architecture department, and the electrical spark and electrical emissions represent the Electrical Engineering department with its two branches: Communications and Electrical Power and Machines.tter ‘T
